Patient Stories

The movement therapist brings compassion, positive energy and warmth, as well as a fun and motivating medium for kids to engage in therapeutic activity that promotes health and wellness during their cancer experience. I appreciate how she, and movement therapy in general, capitalize on the power of movement as a language and use it as a means of allowing our patients to express their feelings, cope with their experiences in the hospital and find strength and power within themselves that they might not have recognized otherwise. Movement is a non-threatening, motivating and engaging universal medium of communication. It is a powerful tool that allows our kids to address their emotional, social, physical, and cognitive needs during a very unpredictable and often traumatic experience and I hope we will always have this to offer to our patients and families at St. Louis Children’s Hospital!
